This November in London, Aidan Pawson, Managing Director of Zicket, was named Best Event Technologist at the Event Technology Awards 2025.
For everyone at Zicket, this recognition means everything. Aidan has spent the last seven years building something genuinely special in Hong Kong's events industry, and seeing that acknowledged on a global stage is a proud moment for the entire team.
Seven Years of Growth
Since launching Zicket in 2018, Aidan has helped to transform how events operate across Asia. We've now processed over 17 million tickets, facilitated over 22 million RFID transactions, and powered events and attractions that have welcomed millions of attendees, including AIA Carnival & the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.
Anyone who works with Aidan knows he leads by example. When we implemented RFID technology, he was on the ground testing it himself. When we partnered with Eventbrite to overhaul our ticketing, he spent weeks mastering their platform before rolling it out to the team. He's never asked anyone to do something he hasn't already done.
Strategic Thinking
Aidan's strategic vision has shaped how Zicket operates. Building partnerships with industry leaders like Eventbrite and WEEZ has been central to our growth. One of his key strengths lies in finding the best event technologies available and integrating them into comprehensive solutions that work for organisers.
His experience spans both sides of the events industry. Before running an event tech company, he ran events. That dual perspective means he understands what organisers need, often before they've articulated it themselves. Working with clients like Magic Room, he's helped scale their events from 600-capacity shows to multiple sellouts at increasingly larger venues.
Recent Milestones
The last two years have been particularly strong:
- Reached 17 million tickets processed
- Powered the return of Cirque du Soleil to Hong Kong
- Shortlisted for Best Ticketing Business of the Year at the global Ticketing Business Awards
- Expanded operations across Singapore, Macau, Abu Dhabi, and the Greater Bay Area
- Won double Gold at the Asia eCommerce Awards 2025 for our work with AIA Carnival

Innovation in Practice
Aidan's approach to technology is about finding what works and integrating it seamlessly. He brought restaurant-grade payment systems into event settings when others were still using basic solutions. During COVID-19, Zicket was among the first to implement contactless technology at events. That pattern of identifying best-in-class technologies and combining them into comprehensive solutions has continued as the company has grown.
Looking ahead, Aidan and the team are focused on continuing to push boundaries in event technology. With operations now spanning multiple countries and partnerships with major productions, the foundation is in place for further expansion in the years to come. The goal remains the same as it was in 2018: deliver solutions that solve real problems for event organisers.
