Client

The Hong Kong Observation Wheel and AIA Vitality Park (HKOW) is one of Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions, located at the Central Harbourfront, Hong Kong. The wheel is operated by The Entertainment Corporation Limited (TECL) and welcomes over 1 million customers per annum.

Challenge

2020 was a challenging year for all in the events and entertainment sectors fraught with uncertainty, anti-epidemic measures, and restrictions on business activity & public gatherings. The wheel in their aim to be a world-class tourist attraction for both domestic and international audiences require a long-term service partner who are flexible, forward-thinking in their approach and offer additional safety protocols to meet a changing environment. The client requires a one-stop-shop solution for all activity at HKOW, AIA Vitality Park, F&B Outlets and 3rd Party Events & Attractions.

As the full-service ticketing partner for HKOW, Zicket undertook the challenge to align internal goals with those of the wheel and introduced a range of COVID-Responsible features to aid the safe return customers in line with local Government guidelines and restrictions.

Solution

Zicket developed and actioned the following COVID-Responsible system features at HKOW:

  • Pre-Registration & Ticketing
  • Self-Scan Access Control
  • Contactless Payments
  • Digital Track & Trace
  • Real-Name Ticketing
  • Custom Health Declarations
  • Capacity Controls
  • Timed-Session Ticketing

As well as undertaking and implementing the following operational and onsite guidelines:

  • Socially-Distant Queuing
  • Mandatory Mask Wearing
  • Contact-Free Temperature Checks
  • Single-Group Gondola Rides
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Increased Sanitation & Cleaning

In a year of uncertainty, it is important to have partners that are flexible and one step ahead of the game. Zicket has been instrumental in implementing advanced Covid related ticketing and access control measures, that have allowed us to operate during an unusual year. The team have been constantly developing new and unique ideas to ensure our customer base is contactable and traceable which has been invaluable and allows us to be recognised as a leader in "responsible" entertainment.

Result

We are very pleased to extend our service partnership with one of Hong Kong's favourite tourist attractions for a further 2 years building upon our initial 3 year term. The wheels core aims mirror our own and we look forward to strengthening our working relationship into 2021-22.

Working closely with HKOW's operations team, utilising our COVID-Toolkit as part of a wider strategy allowed for a safe return of customers in 2020 with the re-opening on HKOW, the return of Heath & Wellness Classes and the opening of Hong Kong's 1st COVID-Responsible Entertainment Space, The Grounds.

With even more exciting site-wide developments planned for the near future we look forward to a brighter 2021.
